Confirmation Attendance Policy

We understand that our Confirmation students may have other extracurricular commitments that occasionally prevent them from attending class. Each student is allowed up to 3 total absences for the entire year. Should a student exceed this limit, they will be required to make up the missed class(es).

We understand that students may occasionally be unable to attend class during the year. Each student is permitted up to three absences (non-consecutive) for the entire program year. Students who exceed three total absences will be required to make up the missed classes. Those with six or more absences will be asked to meet with the Confirmation Coordinator to discuss their attendance. In cases of excessive absences, parents may also be required to attend the meeting.

Tardy/Late

It is okay to arrive late. We understand that some students may be coming from another activity or event. If a student knows ahead of time that they will be late, either the student or their parent/guardian should call the Office of Faith Formation to inform us. Upon arrival, please stop by the office to sign in and pick up a tardy slip before going to class. Students who do not check in and receive a tardy slip will automatically be marked absent.

Make-Up Classes

Once a student has more than three absences, they will be required to make up the class(es) they missed. However, we encourage all students to make up any missed classes, even if they have not yet exceeded three absences. All makeup classes must be attended in person. Students will need to attend class on the opposite day of their regular schedule:

If a student’s regular class is on Tuesday at 7:00 PM, they will need to attend a Saturday class at 9:30 AM.
If a student’s regular class is on Saturday at 9:30 AM, they will need to attend a Tuesday class at 7:00 PM.

If a student is unable to attend on the opposite day, they must speak with the Coordinator to arrange an alternative way to make up the class.

Make Up For Special Events

We strongly encourage students not to miss any special events such as retreats, reflection nights, interviews, and other required gatherings. However, if a student is unable to attend, it is the responsibility of the student and their parent/guardian to inform the Faith Formation Office and the program coordinator(s) in advance. Notification can be made by phone call or email. After the event has taken place, the coordinator(s) will remind students during class and email parents with information on how the missed event can be made up.

PLEASE NOTE: Failure to make up or complete a required event may result in the student not being Confirmed during their term. Attendance at these events is mandatory, and it is the responsibility of both the student and their parent(s)/guardian(s) to ensure that all required events, makeups, and assignments are completed.
