Registration

Parents help ensure a safe and orderly environment during Faith Formation sessions by supporting traffic flow, supervising student safety at arrival and dismissal, and helping monitor school areas. Please check in at the Faith Formation Office 15 minutes before class, then wear a safety jacket. Remember to check out after finishing the 2-hour shift.

1. Child in Grades 1–2 who is not baptized

• Will be enrolled in OCIA

• OCIA prepares the child for:

  • Baptism

  • First Reconciliation

  • First Holy Communion

  • After receiving these sacraments, the child continues in the appropriate grade-level class.

2. Child in Grades 3–8 seeking Baptism

• Will be enrolled in OCIA, not the regular Grade 3–8 class.

• OCIA will prepare them for:

  • Baptism

  • First Reconciliation

  • First Holy Communion

  • After receiving the sacraments, they transition into the Grade 3–8 Faith Formation program.

3. Confirmation Student (Grades 9–12) who is not baptized

• They cannot begin Confirmation yet.

• They must enter OCIA first to receive:

  • Baptism

  • First Holy Communion

  • After completing OCIA and receiving the sacraments, they may begin Confirmation Year 1 the following year.

4. Confirmation Student (Grades 9–12) who is baptized but has not received First Holy Communion

• Student will also enter OCIA first.

• OCIA prepares them for:

  • First Reconciliation

  • First Holy Communion

  • Afterward, they may begin Confirmation Year 1 the next year.

5. Child in Grades 3–8 who has First Communion but needs a missing certificate

• They may enroll in the grade-level program.

• Parents must request a replacement certificate from the parish where the sacrament was received.

6. Transfer Students (coming from another parish or Catholic school)

• Must provide any sacrament records and previous Faith Formation completion letters if available. The transfer letter must be signed by the Pastor, Director of Religious Education or Confirmation Coordinator of the parish where the student completed his or her first year of formation.

• Placement will match their sacramental history and academic grade.

• If your child is applying to enter Year 2 from another parish, please have a photo of the student’s transfer letter to submit to us.

We welcome all children into our Faith Formation program. If your child has special needs, learning differences, or requires additional support, please let us know during registration so we can prepare the best environment for them. If your child has special needs, please have a picture of the student’s IEP documentation available.

Support Provided

• Individual learning accommodations based on the child’s needs

• Flexible pacing for sacrament preparation

• Alternative learning materials (visual, auditory, simplified texts, etc.)

• One-on-one or small-group support when available

• Sensory-friendly adjustments (seating, quiet spaces, reduced stimulation)

How We Place Students

• Placement is determined by:

• The child’s grade level

• Their sacramental readiness

• Any special learning needs that are discussed with parents

• A possible short meeting with the coordinator to create a learning plan

Sacrament Preparation for Students With Special Needs

• All children can prepare for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation, regardless of ability.

• Preparation may be adapted to fit the child’s communication style and pace.

• Parents are closely involved in the process.
