First Holy Communion

Program Description:

The Elementary Program offers foundational religious education and ongoing faith formation for children in grades 1-8. The First Holy Communion Program prepares children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist.The First Holy Communion Program follows the guidelines of the Diocese of Orange. It is a two-year preparation program.First Holy Communion - Year 1: To study about the basic catechesis of the Christian life. First Holy Communion - Year 2: To deepened the understanding of the two Sacraments (Reconciliation and Eucharist).After two years, the students will solemnly celebrate the reception of these two Sacraments. Part of the preparation for receiving the Sacraments includes Retreat Day to provide special time for prayer and more direct preparations. Specific schedule and details are provided at parents' meetings.

Important Events for FHC 1 & 2

October 31, 2026: Opening Mass from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
December 16 or December 19, 2026: Christmas Celebration for Students & Parents
May 8, 2027: Mass of Thanksgiving & Award Ceremony from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM which all CFF students and families must attend

FHC 1

October 3 or October 7, 2026: Parents Meeting for Grade 1 (FHC 1) and Grades 3-6

FHC 2

October 14 or October 24, 2026: Parents Meeting for Grade 2 (FHC 2)
December 2 or December 5, 2026: Advent Confession Service which all Grades 3-8 students must attend
January 27, 2027: Parents Meeting for Grade 2 (FHC 2)
February 13, 2027: Parents Meeting for Grade 2 (FHC 2)
February 24 or February 27, 2027: Lenten Confession Service for Grades 3-8
March 13, 2027: Retreat for Grade 2 (FHC 2) from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM at Doyle Hall
April 15, 2027: First Confession for Grade 2 (FHC 2) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM which all FHC 2 students and one parent must attend
May 13, 2027: FHC 2 Rehearsal at 4:00 PM for the Wednesday Session and 6:00 PM for the Saturday Session at Holy Spirit Church
May 15, 2027: FHC Mass at 10:30 AM for the Wednesday Session and 1:30 PM for the Saturday Session
