What Are the Works of Mercy?
Why They Matter
Jesus teaches that serving both corporal and spiritual needs of a person is equivalent to serving Him. “Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me” (Mt 25:40). Because of this teaching, Catholic tradition adopted the Works of Mercy.
How Can You Serve?
Read the lists of corporal and spiritual works of mercy on the back and pick one of each that sticks out to you.
Brainstorm specific actions you can take that would qualify as examples of the corporal and spiritual acts of mercy you chose.
*Note: Choose individuals or groups in need of mercy who is/are OUTSIDE your family for this project - take an opportunity to build a relationship with the wider body of Christ
Talk to your sponsor and complete either the corporal or the spiritual act of mercy together (or you can always do both together!)
Pick a day and time to complete your works of mercy.
After you have completed BOTH Works of Mercy, fill out a Works of Mercy Sheet and submit it to the Faith Formation Office
